Drupal 7 Support & Upgrades to Drupal 11
Drupal 7 stopped receiving security updates on 5 January 2025. I move Drupal 7 sites to Drupal 11 for a fixed price, with the same design, the same content and the same web addresses. Nothing to pay until you're happy.

Why a Drupal 7 site cannot stay as it is
These are four of the holes that were patched while Drupal 7 was still supported. Since January 2025 there is nobody to patch the next one.
Drupalgeddon 2
A remote code execution bug: a few crafted requests gave an attacker the whole server. Thousands of unpatched sites were taken over within days. SA-CORE-2018-002
jQuery UI cross-site scripting
An outdated jQuery UI let attackers run JavaScript in the browser of a logged-in editor and act as them. SA-CORE-2022-002
Insecure image derivatives
A setting that let anyone download private files by requesting specially crafted image addresses. SA-CORE-2022-012
File download access bypass
A path handling flaw that let visitors fetch private uploads and configuration exports. SA-CORE-2023-005
If your site is on Pantheon
Pantheon has been keeping Drupal 7 patched at no charge. That cover ends on 5 January 2027. After that the choice is paid extended support, around £115 a month per site, or an upgrade.
The upgraded site can go live on Pantheon on its Drupal 11 platform, or move to my hosting if you prefer.
What a fixed-price upgrade includes
Same look
Your design is rebuilt on Drupal 11 so visitors see the site they know.
All your content
Pages, news, events, products, images, documents and users are carried across.
Same web addresses
Every existing URL keeps working, so your Google rankings and links are kept.
Security updates again
Current Drupal 11 and PHP, back on the security release schedule.
Faster on phones
Images and code are brought up to date, which usually improves Google's mobile score.
Nothing to pay until you're happy
You check the new site on a test address first. You pay when you are satisfied.
What the upgrade involves
Drupal 7 and Drupal 11 share no code, so the site is rebuilt on Drupal 11 rather than updated in place: your theme is ported, your content types and fields are recreated, and every node, file, menu, user and web address is migrated across. I check each page of the new site against the original before you see it.
For your editors, the admin screens look familiar and the text editor is a newer version of the one they use today.
How it works
1. A free look
You send the site address. I check the version, the modules and the size of the site.
2. A fixed price
You get the figure in writing. No hourly billing and no surprises.
3. The upgrade
I build the Drupal 11 site on a test address and check every page against the original.
4. You approve
When you are happy, you pay and the new site goes live with no downtime.
Hosting and ongoing support
If you would like, I can host the upgraded site with security updates included, for £35 + VAT a month or £350 + VAT a year. Or the new site goes back to your current host. Monthly support plans cover updates, monitoring and small changes.
Questions people ask
Is this AI slop?
Partly automated, honestly. The checks on a site (the Drupal version, Google's speed test, what has been updated) are run by my own scripts, and the email you may have received was written from those findings. The upgrade, the page-by-page checking and every reply are done by me, Brian Willows, a developer since 1997; my work is on drupal.org and LinkedIn.
How can you do it for that price?
It is an introductory price, and I make my money afterwards on hosting, support and the improvements people want once the site is on current software. The mechanical parts are scripted: the build, the content migration, the theme port scaffolding, the crawl that checks every address, the page-by-page comparison. The judgement, the theme and the custom code, is my time. The figure is confirmed in writing after I have looked inside, and you pay nothing until you have approved the result.
Is my site too customised for a fixed price?
I look at it first and confirm the figure in writing before anything starts, so if your site is bigger than usual you know before you commit.
Should we move to WordPress instead?
That is usually a rebuild: new design, content copied across and old links broken. Moving to Drupal 11 keeps what you already have, for far less.
Can our current developer stay involved?
Yes. I'm happy to work alongside them, or hand the finished site over to them.
Do you host as well?
Yes, with security updates included, for £35 + VAT a month or £350 + VAT a year. Or the new site goes back to your current host.
We are on Pantheon. Can the new site stay there?
Yes. The Drupal 11 site goes live on Pantheon on its Drupal 11 platform, or moves to my hosting if you would rather.
Will we lose our Google rankings?
No. Every existing web address keeps working on the new site, so search engines and links carry straight over.
What about the mobile layout or accessibility?
Once the site is moved, those can be improved and priced separately. The upgrade itself keeps everything as it is.
